During the 5th century BC the Chinese started with iron plows which were much harder and longer lasting. Farming was a very manual and hands on job. wheat would be loosened from the crop by beating it with sticks. This is a process which is still carried out in many rural locations in China even to this day. There were many different crops that the Ancient Chinese focused on growing.
